Personal care commences.

This morning I was given a body wash by a 22 year old carer.  I have to say it went very well.  I was treated with respect, kept my dignity and I am now clean all over.  We got on well.  It took her about ten minutes to get me clean and moisturised.  Then spent the next 30 minutes chatting about her life while wandering through the house and being very complimentary about it.  A very positive experience.  So my getting stressed, as always, was a waste of time, as always.  Hey ho.

As my left leg has now swollen all the way up to my knee I was seeing the Specialist Nurse later.  But at least I was clean!

I now have to see the Doctor tomorrow.....

Nurses final words to me were, " If it gets any worse during the night call an ambulance."  I asked, "My leg?"

"No your breathing."  I hope this was her idea of a joke.....

Next the Prom.  Heals everything.  I wish.

A beautiful day.  Warm with a breeze.  Lungfuls of Sea air.  Bliss.  I walked.  A bit.

Snoozing Blackheaded Gulls, note the eyes are just open and on watch!

Juvenile Herring Gulls on the rocks at low tide.

And when a small child/brat runs at them.  Birds fly away....

Back home Sith cat and the door/cat stop!

The DP cleaned all the Shedudio windows.  He says it is so much easier than when it was all small panes.  (Which made me feel easier at him having to do it!)

At last!  Dysons offspring.  9 baby Pheasants.  9!  Second visit today.  Thrilled.  We had already seen some larger offspring, remember he had four wives.

These can fly already.  So are in the plant troughs hanging off the fence.

Is not that wonderful?  New life.

Glad to hear your encounter with the carer was a positive one.
As for the nurse's words, perhaps she was referring to the fact that leg swelling might cause shortness of breath.

The clean, large windows of the shedudio bring in a lot of light and make everything look brighter. Good work all around!

Oh dear (about leg AND breathing). I hope the Doc is more positive than the Nurse was. I am glad that your personal carer was helpful and respectful. I am not surprised you had been worrying about it.

ah Jill, I know it must be hard to have to accept help but that is the young woman's job and without people, she would not be employed, I know it's awful that it has to be you that needs the help but in the end it is you in NEED of the help right now, and I think it's good you had a smooth experience with it. Let people help you and you will be strong again, my daughter is a home care nurse, she loves her job and feels she is doing a good service much needed and much appreciated, some of her people she cares for are angry sad mean-spirited people, not at all happy with what has befallen them but for the most part just normal average lovely everyday people who have had a run of bad luck with their health and it could be any one of us in a blink of an eye.
I smiled when you called the child / brat chasing the birds, don't you just hate that!!! I see that all the time here and annoys me to no end , especially when their idiot parents stand there letting them do it! That Dyson has been a busy fella!

I think it’s the loss of our dignity that worries us all and so glad that your carer today was efficient and caring. My friend broke her shoulder and eventually accepted help from one of her grandaughters because she knew she was quite “unfresh”. She cried and cried but was so grateful that the young woman had turned up and said she wasn’t leaving til she had helped her grandma shower. One less thing to struggle with Jill and leave you more energy for painting.

Love the pictures of the pheasants and babies. You take the best pictures!

When I had major back surgery and was in a rehab facility after, I had my first ever assistance with showering/cleaning. The young aide was wonderful and assured me that she (and all the aides) had seen everything, and that it was not a problem to see a stooped, overweight women in all her nakedness. She was very kind, and by talking to me and letting me talk, put me at ease.

A year later, when I had hip replacement surgery, I had a home health aide help me with a standing bath at the sink. We managed to clean everything, but it was a kind of messy with water everywhere. Luckily, we had put down towels to stand on! This woman was in her 40s, and again was both professional and kind.
