Thursday

Apparently not everyone takes to oxygen therapy,  I think I may be one such.  I havent felt right since starting on it.  I can stop  taking it I was told today by the surgery paramedic.  Then what?

Confused.

I keep being offered the hospital.  Such a long way away.  Anyone else been in this situation?

Sorry to hear the oxygen has not really worked for you - would it be best to go back to your consultant now to discuss any other options? If the sea air makes you feel better at the prom maybe the 'salty' air is doing something for you I believe this can be the case and the Salt Cave in London approved by the NHS has had some good results for COPD. Take care x

My Mum had COPD and I can remember her having a sort of pump thing and a face mask that she used to use to help her breath, not sure if that's any good for you. She did not use it all of the time just odd times to help her when she needed it.

Dearest Jill, The last thing you want right now is a pat on the head and to be told "Not to worry." so I'm not going to do that. You need no-nonsense good advice not a glib, patronizing throw-away comment from California. Just know that you're important to an awful lot of people. You have value, and we desperately want you well.

I 2nd the salt therapy - when I was bad last year I just sat sniffing a bag of Himalayan salt crystals and they did help. I hope that the "powers that be" can help you now that oxygen hasn't. Keep breathing that sea air . . .

So sorry that the oxygen therapy is not helping, you are in my prayers that a solution can be found. My dear Dad has COPD he uses long acting bronchoclators which are combined with corticosteroids which helps a little.

Sea air seems to do you good, but daily deployment (driving +walking) to the Prom is probably too much an effort for your heart.
There are ways to get sea air at home. There's even a sea air simulator on the market.
Enter Google to get info about the above.

My godmother used a nebulizer with medication in it as a treatment for COPD. She used it several times a day to help her breathe. Without it she was gasping. She had smoked for over 40 years. I don't mean to say this to upset you in any way but it did help her tremendously.💖

Nebulisers through an air compressor are the first line of choice for people with copd. Whether plain water or salty water saline or salbutamol. But your team will guide you. Having some heart failure may rule out saline nebulisers All at room temperature as cold restricts lung capacity. Regards x
