Friday

I am sitting here with a glass of wine.  It has rained almost all day.  I have not walked. There was no wind, no oxygen, so I have not done my exercises.

The DP's car is back with MOT.

He was fitting my new light in the shedudio.  Lots of cursing.  It didnt work, well it did, but then tripped the fuse.  But he now knows how to fix it.

I entertained a visitor wanting to gain from my experiences of NEOS (North East Open Studios) which she is doing for the first time this year.  She should do well her paintings are excellent.  I thought I could talk but after two hours I was exhausted - from listening.

I am sitting here with a glass of wine.

A Good Day.

Checking my emails.  I had one from the Blue Badge people.  I got my Blue Badge!  No quibble, no having to go be watched walking/staggering  up and down, to say I am gob smacked is well  -whew.

When I first applied some years back I sat in front of two employees of the council who basically were filling in, or not, tick boxes.  I was refused.  So I appealed.

The second time was in front of a Health Professional.  She stopped me after a few walkings up and down and said, "It is clear to me that you have breathing difficulties and I am recommending you are given the Blue Badge."

So I was expecting to have to go through all that again.  Happy.

Having a Blue Badge means I retain my independence.  I can park near to where I want to go.  I have space to get the chariot out of the car.  I do not need assistance.  Wonderful!

I didnt know this when I went for my walk.

I parked in one of the few disabled spaces on the Prom.  Dragged out the chariot which is put behind the passenger seat.  And walked.  I do about five steps before I grab onto the railings and do the controlled breathing and then set off again.  You get used to it.  It was warm today with a gentle breeze.

So I managed the .59 of a mile.  Up through the sand dunes.

6 Spot Burnett Moths.  A lot to be said from hanging onto railings and looking around while you get your breath back.

A Small Tortoiseshell.  A first for me.

There are quite a few regular walkers, cyclists and so on that I pass, or they pass on my walks.  Even the new ones, all nod and exchange a few words.  All good.  There are a few who have head down and no eye contact, but I still manage to speak to them and say "Hi."  You never know when they might want to speak back.  If they dont then fine.

The Poppy painting is finished.  Way out of my comfort zone.

But I still thought I might try another flower.

Although there are some Gannets and Puffins calling my name.....

Tired.

This morning I did my Pulmonary Physio exercises.  I have to do these every other day.

Sit to stand.

Only photo I could find.  I have to cross my arms across the bosoms and then stand and slowly sit down again.  I did it 10 times.  And got to 'I couldn't breathe.'  Number 4 on the Borg scale.  It was quite interesting to stop my chair, which is on wheels, shooting off backwards but I managed to open a drawer and wedge it against it so that didn't happen.

When I am supposed to be aiming for Number 3 which is moderate.  There are a total of 6 exercises which I wont bore you with.  I did them all and there were quite a lot of Borg number 4s which will hopefully come down as I get fitter.

In the afternoon it being a nice weather day I went off for the walk.

Never know whether to be happy about people using the beach for pleasure or not.  Their idea of pleasure isn't always mine.  Sending your kids and or dogs off to make the birds fly annoys me.  Doubt it does the birds too much as they do come back.  But when one is taking a photo - well it does annoy me.

So I will lift mine eyes to the sea.

And the birds did come back.

Back on the home front.  Been a bit of a disaster.  Realised as I had the tax to do on the DP'S car that the MOT  was due - last month.  Its in the garage tomorrow anyway, so hoping they can sort that.  Apparently one doesn't get an MOT certificate anymore so it slipped my radar.  How stupid is that?  Or me?

My car insurance is due, which I knew about.  And the DP 's later this month.  Obviously for many reasons we need his car to be MOT'd.  Down to one car between us for a bit longer.

My not lovely gardeners came this morning after threats and cut the grass.  Then left saying be back in the afternoon to do the weeding and haven't.

Also, after stringing me along for some time saying they would paint the wood bits on the three dormer windows, next week, next week,  now saying they can't do it.

Tired does not actually sum all this up.......

It can only get better.

Weather forecast.

I have a friend who used to work at the Met Office and gets very cross with me if I criticise them.  But, oh I do get cross.  I check their weather forecast frequently to plan my day.  Will I walk or not?  Today was promised sunshine, low winds, from 2p.m. so thats when I planned to walk.  I checked again just before I set off, ok, no sunshine, but low wind .  So I went.

Black Headed Gulls having a preen.

Just listen to the wind.

Large Sailing Boat.  As a Fishing Boat heads off.

Smallish sailing boat.

A much smaller Lobster Boat.

By the time I reached the playground the rain came on.... Together with the cold wind I turned and went back to the car and home....Fed up.

Everything is now labelled.

Bit more painting.

Checked the weather forecast.  All good for tomorrow.  We shall see.

Monday again.

The DP's car has warning lights on when something needs attention.  This time it is the brake pads.  Our garage, which we can see across the park (field) is very busy, so Thursday before he can do it.  Monday is shopping day.  I had an appointment with Pulmonary Physio at 1 p.m.  It was blowing a hooley so I wasnt too fussed about walking.  So we decided when I had finished at physio I would come home and he could then take my car and shop.

Pulmonary physio I have been doing on and off for some years now.  It took me a while to finish a course as I kept picking up chest infections.  In fact when I did finish the course I got a Well Done Card from the physio team!

Pulmonary physio is done in groups.  There is always some idiot who thinks they will battle on, its only a cold, and infects the members of the group who are susceptible to infections and they dont just have a cold they get a chest infection which could be fatal.

So this time round I asked for a set of exercises I could do at home, I have all the equipment weights, ankle weights etc.  And that is what I now have.  I go back in 2 weeks to see how I am doing.  I am still doing the exercises for the spine.  I should be very fit soon.  Ha ha.

Tidying.

Labelling 2 out of 3 browsers holding mounted paintings.

A bit of painting.

Watching the birds.  The GSW is now developing the red tummy showing he/she is maturing, the red head will then disappear.  Red nape for male if he is he I think.

I then came up to the house and did battle with the form for renewing my Blue Badge which doesnt run out till September, but I know of old I am dealing with non medically trained council employees.....  If I had no use in my arms or legs I would be fine.  26% lung capacity and a broken spine , well its difficult to find a question which covers that.

SO - GOODNIGHT.  Tomorrow is another day.  Exercises and a walk is the plan. Better check the weather forecast.

Sunday.

The DP went off into the wilds of Ballater on a bird watching jaunt.  NE Scotland RSPB group.

So I managed my own breakfast.  Did the minutes for FASE 4.  Did the dishwasher, washing machine loaded and set off.  In between all of these activities I had a sit down of course.  Bathed and dressed.  Lunch made and consumed, crossword done.  Then off for the walk.

It was quite breezy, coolish, so an empty beach almost.

I did not do the full walk.  Some pain in the back area.  Probably from the chair I sat in yesterday, stupidly did not grab the cushions that were around to plug the gap between my back and the back of the bucket chair.  I have always had problems with being small. In height.  My feet are usually swinging in the breeze when I am sat.  Now only 4 feet 10 it is worse!

So did quite a lot of railing leaning and watching the lovely Gull gang.

Came home.  Fed Sith cat.

Coming in to this - the shedudio - leave all my troubles behind!  Between you and I - I dont think it will ever be finished as each time I go in I see something I could/should tweak.  So I have decided to just pick a weekend when it will be open and tell people and get it over with.  Then gear up for North East Open Studios in September. Well thats the plan.

Almost ready for the black centres of the Ornamental Poppies.  Then I can start back into seabirds - again!!!

Exhausted!

Off to Strichen at lunchtime.  Takes about 10 minutes to drive there from here.

Strichen is a village in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It sits on the A981, connecting it to New Deer7.2 miles (12 km) to the southwest and Fraserburgh 8 miles (13 km) to the north-northeast, and the B9093, connecting it to New Pitsligo about four miles due west. The village got its name from Lord Strichen. It is situated on the River Ugie at the foothills of Mormond Hill. The Strichen White Horse is constructed of quartz on Mormond Hill, some 1500 m Northeast of Strichen.[1]  Wikepedia.

Also Wikepedia.

Mormond Hill, mentioned in the blurb, I can see from my shedudio, on the horizon.

The Old Auction Rooms were just that but now an amazing space with Antiques
upstairs, so no idea, as I do not do stairs.  The loos are down a few stairs, which I am pleased
to say I managed.

The actual exhibition was a bit crammed up one end.  The hall as you see here is actually the cafe.

There was lots on the stage, but this again involved steps, and I would still need the chariot to move around , so I did not go up there.

Paintings, Photography, Wood turning, Jewellery.

We sat by this enormous wood burner, which thankfully was not lit.  I would imagine
it would be far too hot to sit by.

The DP went and ordered our lunch.  He had just sat down when a waiter appeared with
two bowls of soup and 2 Lattes.  The DP pointed out we had ordered one soup, 2 sandwiches
and 2 Cappucinos but as it was busy we would be happy with one soup, and the 2 Lattes.

The couple sitting opposite us asked when had we ordered and we said just now.  Of
course it eventually dawned on us all that we had been given their order.....We ended
up friends.

It got sorted.  But why did the idiot who had taken the order say to the waiter the table
by the stove?????  When there were two tables by the stove?

Right, why did I become exhausted?  Meeting up with fellow artists and friends from years
back and talking and listening, laughing - and being sad at all us wrinklies with bits
dropping off!!!  So lovely after a long gap to find you still like them and they still like
you....

The outside of this building is just as delightful as the inside.  Neither I nor the expert
photographer, the DP, know why my camera decided that some images should be
black and white.

All under cover.  Delightful.

Then we revert to colour, well the camera does ?

On the way in, there is a Florists.

All in all a very enjoyable day.  But once back home I slumped in my chair in the shedudio.
Bit of painting on the commission I have.  Watched the birds.

Pleased to see the Siskins back, on the right, and the ever present Goldfinches.

Now enjoying
