It is with great sadness that we have to say that Jill passed away on 23rd February at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Jill's wish was to donate her body to Aberdeen University Medical department, however because of the pandemic this hasn't been possible. Instead Jill will be buried in a woodland setting at Clovery Woods of Rest near one of her favourite castles at Fyvie. The internment will be attended by close family.

Please raise a glass or two of red to remember Jill in your own way.

We request that rather than sending flowers, instead make a donation to the New Arc or Willows Animal Sanctuary in Jill's name.

I am so very sad to read of the passing of Jill. I shall miss reading of her trips to the prom, about "her cat", the badgers, her lovely paintings and the stories of the DP and her family. She has come across as a very brave and determined lady who loved her family and did not give up the fight against this awful illness. My deepest sympathy to you her family, and those who knew her as a personal friend. Jean.

Oh, I am so sorry to read this!! Jill was such a fighter. So many troubles with her health but she kept going to her beloved a prom. And, I so loved reading about that beach in Scotland, and seeing the photos and occasional videos. And, her exquisite art. Her much adored oystercatchers. I live in north Texas. I have lost a piece of me tonight. Jill mattered. Sending hugs to you across the miles. Rose

DP, my heart goes out to you and your family in your great sorrow. Jill had a way of sharing her world--her paintings, the prom, her favorite bird--oystercatchers, the sea and boats, your (DP) wonderful photography--that drew many of us across the miles and oceans to her side. We cheered for her when a good day of Vitamin Sea at the prom had lightened her mood and tried to encourage her when days were difficult. And now, just great sadness. She will be missed.

... from her battles as a lighthouse volunteer to the “dogs of the prom” a frequent dose of Jill was a staple indulgence for me. DP - may l suggest you occasionally post a few pictures of your beautiful environment and birds as you have a talent for which l have the greatest respect. Your bird challenge a while back was most enjoyable and l firmly believe that ... as Dylan Thomas raged, “ Do not go gently into that good night ... “ it would do you a world of good if you were to continue Jill’s endeavors in a similar vein. Not a lot of writing just wonderful pictures of sunsets, the prom, boats “ toing and frowing ... “ etc. Perhaps it’s just egotistical me but it might be worth a try in order to wrestle with “the black dog” as she called it. You have your photographic society in your town but your work deserves a larger audience. I believe Jill would approve ... the creative mantle of north east Scotland should be passed on. Pleas give this your serious consideration. Thankful Yours,
An ardent admirer
