Ever optimistic!

Buddleia Davidii. Not in my garden yet. Still sitting in its pot.
But the afternoon was warm, cloudy with no wind. So out I went to prepare...

White Buddleia. This one did get planted.

Still a way to go!

This bed has a lilac tree in it and lots of suckers coming from it. I weeded what I could but havent the wellie to remove the suckers so Mike is to have a go.

You can see what I did do, from the amount of weeds in the trugs, and see the suckers on the left.

Once properly cleared, and me to finish off the weeding I didnt manage today, there will be plenty room for the blue buddleia and the potentilla, yet another! I also planted some poppy seeds round the baby white buddleia and some marigold seeds nearer the edge. There were tons of small bees, never seen such tiny bees, all around this bit of garden. They will love the blooms if the planting is a success.

Now this shrub I have no idea what it is. But it is very healthy. A lot of the shrubs in our new garden have been badly damaged by the frosts we had this last winter.

We have already removed a few shrubs that were too far gone to recover. Also a hawthorn that must have self seeded or been brought by the birds which was in totally the wrong place. We are to make a path from the lawn to the summer house and it was slap bang in the middle of where the path will be.

An enjoyable afternoon.

Mike, meanwhile cycled to the Loch of Strathbeg. This is our local bird reserve. He had already cycled to Cairnbulg in the morning to get the newspaper and see if he could cycle Northwards to the Waters of Philorth, another place to see birds. But the path was so narrow he couldnt even walk with the bike.

We are both exhausted !
