Sunday 23 June 2019

Exhausted.

So the carer was booked for 8 a.m. breakfast.  The DP departed just before 7 a.m.

As no-one had appeared by 9 a.m. I managed to cobble together my breakfast. Mainly to take pills that had to be taken within a certain time after eating.

10.05 the carer appeared.  I explained that as I had heard nothing from 'the office' as to who was going to come I had thought no-one was and had eaten breakfast.

She said she would be there for lunch.  And was.

I loaded up the chariot into the car and was away to the Prom.

It was very hot and humid.  Not many people on the beach.  Which was surprising given the weather and it being a Sunday.  I had a choice of two Blue Badge parking spaces too.  I walked.

An approaching dog sent the Gulls off the beach.

Following a beach clean this morning this was the magnificent haul.

So good that people do this.  So bad they have to.

Back home and I fed the birds outside the Shedudio.  Knackered by this time.  But rewarded by a juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker.

Then there was the long wait for the DP to return home.

We are both concerned at the non delivery of my respite care and he is giving careful consideration to any more away days or parts of he wants to do.  Such a shame when it was offered to us, not requested by us, bloody stupid.  And I shall say so.

That’s a shame things didn’t go as planned, it’s serious business when it’s health care related, no room for error! Tomorrow is another day, hopefully better for you,

Such a shame that your carer was late, it must be worrying for you and DP and sad that he is considering not having the occasional day out.

it is a shame that a good service is let down by its poor reliability. I worked with a lovely caring vet who, took very early retirement and went into the care sector as management and was horrified at the system. Unrealistic times were given to the care-staff to include travel to and from their charges which sadly either meant they ran permanently late or only had enough time to dash in, do the bare minimum before having to go on to their next case.
It in essence made a caring service into an unreliable one.

When I was a carer, if we had to be late we would ring the office to ask them to let our clients know. It's not like that now. In this town the carers often give a three hour window of when they will come. Not fun. I love the way the woodpeckers feed with their tails curled up.

I'm sorry to read you were let down by the care agency. Such an invaluable means of support to many should not be so unreliable.
It must have been a relief for you to be able to enjoy your time at the prom. X

We were talking today about the importance of Tom not getting wound up over things as it greatly affects his breathing but it's hard not to isn't it? when you are continually let down.
