Donations to charities.

Quite a struggle day today - to breathe.  Hope I haven't got anything brewing.  The cold air outside has an effect.  But hey ho.

The DP and youngest child went off to the Willows.

Willows Animal Sanctuary is the largest equine, farm and domestic animal sanctuary in Scotland and will try to help any animal in distress. We operate a strict no kill policy and only euthanise an animal on veterinary advice. We look after over 450 animals including over 100 horses, ponies and donkeys, over 200 farm animals and birds, approximately 60 cats and dogs and many reptiles and small animals. We are totally dependent on donations, legacies and grants from benevolent organisations to keep the sanctuary running. Unlike larger charities we have no reserves of money and are always desperately short of funds. We specialise in helping elderly or more vulnerable animals that have already been refused help by well-known large national charities, but we can only continue to help needy animals with your support! If you would like to help our work please follow this link: http://www.willowsanimals.com/SupportUs.htm

One of my monthly payments go to the Willows.  The other is the New Arc.  We are fortunate that in our latter years, we certainly could not have done this before, we can now donate to worthy charities.

The North East Wildlife & Animal Rescue Centre (New Arc) is a small independent Charity, based just outside Ellon, Aberdeenshire.
We are a sanctuary and haven for many unwanted, abused and abandoned pets, including horses, goats, pigs, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, hens and ducks. Our particular interest is in wildlife rehabilitation, and we have many years experience in hand-rearing orphan birds, and dealing with orphaned and injured mammals.
For more information, including what we do, where we are, and how to contact us, please visit our about page.
Over the years we have taken in ducks from the New Arc.  Hens from other animal rescue centres.  Where they go in and rescue the hens that after laying in cages big time are to be culled.  Cats from Cats Protection.  All ended their lives happily and naturally.  But now we are too old and decrepit to care for such beasts so I make a monthly donation to the above.
I have also donated to Guide Dogs for the Blind and Oxfam.  The latter two began phoning me at inappropriate times and would not accept my  no to an increase in payments so were deffed in.
I sign many petitions for what I see as setting right a wrong and every time am asked to donate.  Well no.  If I donated to every petition setter up I would be broke.  I appreciate the reason why they are asking but tough.  You have my signature to your petition to clear the seas of plastic, etc., and I do a fair bit churning up and down the prom picking up plastic which would end up in the oceans but my money is not infinite.
So -enough of sanctimonious preaching - I went to the beach.

Another beautiful day.

The only member of the Gull Gang was a Skurry Posing.  (Herring Gull.)

Breathing a bit better on my return.  Goodnight.

Quite right too, Jill. I have stopped answering the phone as it is usually a charity. I think my phone number has been passed around. I have three charities I donate to regularly but that's all I can afford.

The gull posed beautifully for you, perhaps it sensed you care for animals. I like that you share about some of the groups you support, I will write a post like that one of these days (maybe).

We just found out after father in law died just how many letters and pleas for money he had been getting and - worse- how much money he had sent to charities over the last 2 years. Did he know what he was doing? we don't know because with the brain tumour we can't be sure.

Hope you have easier breathing tomorrow

The strangest thing is that I am sure that owl winked at me.
