Back to the drawing board.

Not sure whether it is a blessing or a curse, but I like to make people smile.  Sometimes my approach is not always appreciated.  (Remember the Bee Gees song?  "I started a joke which started the whole world crying.")

But to make people laugh is worth more to me than winning the lottery.

I have the same approach to my painting and drawing.  If the subject makes me smile I want to share it.

Redshanks, work in progress.   And loving every minute.

Sometimes, I struggle.  I want my friend to smile as she asked me to do a painting of her house.  But I think I am on a loser here.

It is such a boring looking house.  Even the DP said, "Can't you paint some climbers up it?" Well I could, but there aren't any.  The orange bush thing I shall alter as it screams WRONG at one.  Even though that is what is there.  (And it might cover up the awful bench thing.)  So the orange bush will become blue/purple, even though it isn't in real life.  Artistic licence ?  Still haven't got one.

Back to the drawing board.  Through gritted teeth.

I had the same problem once when asked t paint my aunts cottage, BORING!!!!! But on my second attempt (she didn't like the first either) I took a photo of it on an angle, still showing the style of the house but not full front. Now I will be honest, she didn't like the second attempt either, what she had in mind was something very loose and water color like , and she wanted the trees bigger, a pat where there was none, and , well you get the point. There's not much one can do when it truly isn't an interesting building is there, you could always change the setting, maybe do it in winter or place a nice big rainbow over it, take the focus off the house, I think you did a beautiful job, the funny thing about the painting I did for my aunt is I sold that painting a yaer later, at least some one liked it!!!!My aunt was very hard to please,

So happy to see you're keeping up the artistic output. I like how you've given the flowers pride of place with the house. And your oystercatchers are clearly alive in that painting!

P.S. I was glad to see you weren't so hypocritical as to join the temperance march yourself!
