Spiders webs.

Sometimes I feel as if my life is a spiders web.  With interlocking themes.  And activities.  And people.
As one does one thing one finds it interlocks with another.
Sometimes this does become a bit too much.
Probably being a bit too deep here.

So let me try to explain.

For example.  In 2002 the DP and I came to live in the North East of Scotland and set up a very successful bed and breakfast. (I wont say business, as we never made any money, any profit went into making the house sound and secure and improving what was on offer.)

From there we discovered the visitor attractions to direct our holidaying guests to.

Duff House

 Delgatie Castle.

Macduff Marine Aquarium.

And the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses.

There are many others, but these are open all year round.  We became personal friends of the people in charge of running them.
If ever you are in this area please visit them all, such an experience and run by people who are passionate about the area and their work place.

Apart from, sadly, last year.  The winter of 2011 the Lighthouse shut.  I will not go into all of the brouhaha here.

In 2011 the DP and I also retired.  In some ways the fact that the Lighthouse Museum had closed added to our sadness, that despite all our best efforts to improve and sell this beautiful part of Scotland , yet another jewel in the crown was doomed.

So now I am retired.

But like a  phoenix the Lighthouse Museum arises ( ok bit too poetic and dramatic) new manager, not a curator, but a business manager to make the place work.

Newly retired I pootled along and joined in with the Friends of the Lighthouse Volunteers.  Part of their activities are to do kids activities at the lighthouse.  This is some of the gang doing their planning.

Every school holiday the group put on craft activities for kids.

Our next one is to be on a pirate theme.  I am doing the posters, working out the activities, getting in all the resources.  But the talent in this group of people is awesome, sadly some of them have had enough, hopefully some will keep going.

But along the way one also connects with .... I am a member of the Royal Society of Protection of Birds, (RSPB).

My art group has been asked to do an art display at the Loch of Strathbeg in March.

More sorting.

And in July/ August at the Lighthouse I want to do a 1000 Sea Bird Challenge - painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, whatever.

What will my spiders web catch, and which other spiders web will I be caught up on?

Did you know that spiders in the house should not be put outside?  They are house spiders.  Not outside spiders.  They will die if put outside. Inside they will eat your inside bugs.  Love spiders. and their webs.

But isn't this what makes life fun? As long as you don't overdo it, take on too much. For then it will just become a drain.

I put my spiders in the greenhouse. They love aphids too.

I never once thought of spiders not being put outside because the house spiders, you sound like you have a full happy retirement, you certainly sound proud of your area,

It's organic... I was talking to Jess about this yesterday as she will have to help train up someone at the Deli to replace her when she leaves but as she is well liked there, there is an open door to come back if she wants. I like circles of life. I feel I am currently in one.
Oh poor spiders - I've obviously killed a few.
Thank you for my little pat the other day - very comforting x
