Life but not as we know it.

Sith cat had his pills delivered by the postie.  We ordered over the phone as usual but then were asked to pay over the phone and have the drugs posted so no contact.  Fine.  It all worked.

Later in the day a telephone call from the surgery cancelling my annual hypertension check and liver blood test.  Fine.  I had no intention of going anyway.  Risking a 4th chest infection was not on my list of things I want to do.  Also cancelled was my annual breathing clinic check up.  I have to phone mid or late April and re appoint.

Then came the news about closures of cafes, restaurants, pubs etc.  We have friends in catering who will be hard hit even though they have set up take aways.  Also our eldest's partner manages a very successful pub in Edinburgh and will be devastated.  But people do not seem to understand about social distancing.  Even on the Prom I have had to ask friendly chatters to back off a few feet - please......  The DP who has done some shopping even during the times set out for the old and at risk says the herding instinct is still strong.

Our escape to the Prom.

The last boat is a large one and was driven by the Pilot out of the harbour.  The Pilot boat follows.  Once out of the harbour the Pilot Boat came alongside and the Pilot got back on and returned to the harbour.

Beautiful beach.  Gulls and Oystercatchers.  Hopefully some to inspire me to paint.

Back home and a big fat Woodpigeon.

All the schools are now closed.  Our daughters with children are drawing up plans to work from home and entertain/home school kids.  I have sent stuff from teacher friends to assist.  Another situation to deal with.  Life but not as we know it but will soon get used to it.  Have to!

So right, the herding instinct is very strong. Must be from when we needed someone at our backs to protect us from a sword thrust from behind. Now we need something much different for protection.

The pictures once again are beautiful.

God bless.

Soon it will become the "new normal". That magnificent wood pigeon will surely inspire your painting mojo to return! Daughter also home with 3 kids and no way to entertain them as cinemas, libraries and even the zoo closed here.

People, at a time of concern, naturally come together as a form of reassurance so it feels very hard to step back, not hug, not to shake hands. Our village seems to stopped breathing, just a few hardy/stupid/essential/front line folk about. We are off shopping today for my folks ... wish us luck!

Life is different, but spring is still here. Some things don't change.
Stay well. X

Am I right in thinking that it is your birthday today (21st March)? It is mine too so a very Happy Birthday to you. We managed to visit the beach yesterday in NE Scotland and I thought of you and your lovely photos as I watched the oyster catchers. What a beautiful day it was. We took a picnic and enjoyed the sunshine. That was the only treat I wanted for my birthday (it is also our 30th anniversary) and of course, it may be the last of our days out for a long time as the country locks down. Keep well xx
