As Fraserburgh holds the record for the highest wind speed at low level
in the UK (123.4 knots or 142 mph, on 13th February 1989)recorded at Kinnaird Head Lighthouse, we had a team from the BBC programme The One Show. I will let you know when its to be on. Next 4 weeks apparently. An item on severe weather.
This is the team on the roof of the castle through which was built the lighthouse.
Although I was there and introduced to the Director, her in blue, or was she a producer? And the cameraman. Sadly I was not required at the other side of the camera. Unlike my main claim to fame last year.
When I was the token English woman on the Scottish Independence debate with Janet Street Porter. Sheesh do I look scruffy. I was mid way through a chest infection.....out of sick bed, on tele, back to sick bed.
Back to the mundane.
Lot of talk in blogland about this new decluttering person. Kimono? Anyway I watched a video on how to fold your knickers today. Thankyou Mums Simply Living blog. Which did not inspire me to change my way of slinging said knickers into a drawer, much quicker. I did, the other day, do as advised by Kimono? to empty my wardrobe onto the floor. Enjoyed that. But then I had to fold and roll everything into drawers. Well I dont have drawers. Apart from the small ones that knickers get flung into. Then bras, then tights. So I am a lost cause. Although I did fill 2 bin bags for the charity shop.
But was all fired up and it felt like Spring so I went down the shedudio and swept, cleaned and moved stuff.
Including my work table to face out of the side window. The sunset has been curtailing my art as it shines directly into my eyes. Seemple, face in another direction. A bit distracting with birds and counting mole hills.
But managed to finish this.
Watercolour, pen and ink. You can see it in stages on my facebook page.
But not as yet on the BBC.
Never, ever done any exercise in my life. Other than swimming, squash, horse riding decades ago.
Now I cycle.
But dont go anywhere.
I started off doing 3 minutes on gear 2. Today I was on gear 5 for 4 minutes.
Walking 12 metres x 6 laps, today I did 25 laps.
Started the knee lifts with 2lbs on each leg x 20 lifts on each leg now 4lbs for 35 lifts.
Leading with the right leg, then the left leg started with 12, now 35 on each.
Sit to stand
This one is a killer. Today I did 35.
Dumbells.
Above your head , out in front and then to the side. Counts as one. Today I did 35. Started with 2kg, now 4.
This one actually consists of a walking stick with a weight wrapped round. Started with 2lbs, now 4lbs. Started with 12 lifts. Sitting down. Now 4lbs x 35 times.
We do warming up exercises and warm down at the end.
There is no cure for our variety of lung diseases.
But one things for sure our heart muscles got a work out , the bingo wings are departing and biceps, triceps, muscly legs and thighs are amazing.
And we certainly exercise our laughter muscles. After we have sat down.
To catch our breath. Well actually not catching ones breath, is not allowed. In through the nose out through the mouth to get control....
I challenge you all to do this. Breathing through a straw .
Because that is what it is like for us.
Now where did I start?
Ah, yes, BBC2 Scotland 9p.m tonight. Look out for the old woman in the pink jacket. Who does not appear to have any breathing problems at all, the way she whitters on.
Been on the market for a month our house has, not one viewing. The DP has cut the lawn far more times than in normal years, just in case ....
Garden looking magnificent. Far more blooms than last year and much earlier. Photographs below were taken at the beginning of May.
Masses of Cherry Blossom, unlike last year. Spring bulbs beneath.
Rogersii sending up flower spike months earlier than normal.
Clematis Montana.
Clematis? Cant remember name. But both still flowering.
Not shown - sorry - Laburnam and Lilac both magnificent and lots of it taken in to Art Group to be immortalised.
Now, back to viewing.
First exhibition for people to view my art was at Strichen Church.
I went in to have a look. My offerings were all in the browser, as none were framed, just mounted. I trawled through, trawled through again and then thought shock horror one has been nicked!!
My Three French Hens had been sold! One of the few to sell. Well pleased. (I dont know why I dont just churn hens out as they always sell.)
So back down the shedudio and readying oneself for more viewing as even more exhibitions loom.
Currently 3 headless chickens.
Skurries (Herring Gulls) United.
Both on the drawing board.
And one ready for viewing.....
Heron. Finished.
Right then. Viewing. Tuesday 10th of June. 9p.m. BBC 2 . The programme with Janet Street Porter. View.
You just never know do you?
Some weeks back I was contacted by a researcher from the......
Who told me they had been reading my blog and really liked it. Could they speak to me on the telephone? As I had just realised I had yet another chest infection I asked for them to leave it a week. Ha ha. Four weeks later I realise I am not about to die, not just yet, but in betweenst I manage to speak to another researcher and found myself agreeing to be interviewed.
A documentary is being made about the Independence vote in Scotland. As someone passionate about the North East and an incomer to boot I am an 'angle' . Well there you go.
The lead person, presenter or whatever they are really called is that intrepid rambler, among many other achievements, finalist in Celebrity Master Chef, a Loose Woman, ex editor of the Independent , etc. etc. Janet Street Porter, who is tramping Scotland and finding out what the ordinary people think about Scottish Independence.
So today I tootled off to the Lighthouse Museum and met the team. Naturellement the Lighthouse Museum was my idea, what better place to a) get some publicity, and b) how photogenic!
So here we have, two camera persons, one I think was also a director, a sound man, a researcher and an assistant researcher, who also looked after JSPs handbag. NO make up person, I fully expected the works, a make over, apparently Oil of Olay my usual wrinkle filler was fine...
Now the sound man.. You have this thing you drop down your cleavage, the top bit is stuck inside the top of your frock or whatever and the bottom is stuck into a square effort which is latched onto your rear waist band. At one point I had to go to the loo and the sound man was very concerned I would drop the square effort in the loo. I assured him I wouldn't and then got very worried he had the sound on, he assured me he hadn't.
After a lot of sound checks, light checks, researchers pretending to be me and JSP we were finally off.
When asked a question, none of which I was expecting, there was no rehearsal, I have a tendency to look above, away from the questioner, this indicates I am thinking....They didnt like that, I had to look at Janet. Then she was told she hadnt asked enough questions so we had to do it again anyway. But we got there in the end.
I have to say that having met and talked, not just in the interview , to Janet Street Porter that I really liked her. She is what you see. And she is really pretty..... huh. She is sitting down in the photo as she actually is about twice my height.
So there you go. The documentary should be out at the end of May and may be throughout the UK, not just Scotland. I will let you know.
So! Who is reading your blog?
