The thing under his tongue was a solid mass. There was some discussion on steroid injections daily which might shrink it. But as he was already on steroids that was doubtful. A long three way conversation with the vet we have had for many years. The decision was made to increase the anaesthetic and let him go. His quality of life was gone.
A Weeping Birch purchased by the DP on his way to collect Sith Cat. Hole dug. Done.
It will take a while before I stop looking and listening for him.
How I wish such a peaceful end could be an option for the people to choose.
So very sorry to hear it. A good decision but a hard one nonetheless. Sleep sweetly Sith Cat.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about with cat but glad he is not suffering.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read your sad news Jill. We have had to say goodbye to many pets ourselves so know how you and DP must be feeling.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry. It's hard for an owner to be in the position of making that decision. I can imagine how much you will miss him. I've lost a beloved cat and it's just not an easy thing to deal with.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry Jill, am thinking of you both tonight.
ReplyDeleteDearest Jill, my heart aches for you and DP. Dig deep to find strength and courage. You did him a kindness by letting him go.Much love.💖
ReplyDeleteOh Jill, I am so very, very sorry. Sith was a beautiful boy. He became quite a celebrity on your blog and I had grown to love him. I was anxiously awaiting your news and am so sad that he has gone. I know how you feel believe me. I shall so miss hearing about him and seeing his photographs. We love them so much and they leave a huge hole in our hearts. Take care, and rest in peace beautiful Sith. Jean.
ReplyDeleteCondolences. It was a peaceful end but you will miss him for some time, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear this, Jill....We have lost a few beloved dogs who are buried in our yard. They really are family and mourned as such. Your decision was to alleviate his suffering. I am so so sorry.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteSad, very sad - both for Sith and the owners.
ReplyDeleteThe weeping birch is quite suitable for the grave of the black, cute cat.
Tears in my eyes. Jennifer.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about Sith cat. I still listen and watch for our fur baby and Shania passed on in June. It is so very hard not to wonder where she is and why she isn't meowing to be fed or petted.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
So very sorry. You're very brave....and kind.
ReplyDeleteVery sad news, but it is a decision that had to be taken and Sith went quietly in his sleep. Plant the willow and remember him as the good companion he was.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry jill, it's the decision that none of us wants to make.
ReplyDeleteYour last sentence echoes my feelings exactly. Sadly it is the price we pay for having animals whose life span is so much shorter than hours.
ReplyDeleteA peaceful way to go for an old puss-cat. The tree in memory is a lovely idea
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that you had to let him go. I know the pain - we have lost many cats down the years, mainly from old age, but the pain is still the same. He had a wonderful life with you, and that is what matters.
ReplyDeleteHe was well loved Jill - he gave love and affection in return
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read this sad news. You will miss him.Barbarax
ReplyDeleteOh Jill, sending condolences to you and the DP. It must be so hard for you both. Glad Sith will be honored with such a lovely tree, with a fitting name.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your loss. It is so hard to lose a beloved cat or dog. They understand us so well and we understand them. And then they are gone . . . My condolences.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you and DP.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you and DP. Sith was deeply loved.
ReplyDeleteSorry for your loss. Nice tree to remember him by.
ReplyDeleteSo very sorry to hear this and you will miss him so much.
ReplyDeleteJill our hearts bleed for you. We only know you and Sith cat through your blog but the emotion of being able to identify with your loss is very powerful - and painful. It brought tears. The weeping birch is so apt. Blue Skies, and a digital hug.
ReplyDeleteSuch a hard decision to make - but the right one. A gentle soul running free - watch out for him in the corner of your vision. And a beautiful tree.
ReplyDeleteLove, prayers and hugs for you both x
Only just read your sad news - I am so sorry for your loss - he undoubtedly had a good, happy life with you and DP and a lovely tree to rest under now. xx
